Little Rock, Arkansas – Rising flood concerns are building across Arkansas as multiple rounds of rain set to arrive by midweek could drop up to 3 inches in some areas, especially across the northwest part of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, an unsettled pattern will take hold starting Wednesday, with several storm systems moving through the region into the weekend. Rainfall totals have trended lower across central and southern Arkansas, but widespread amounts between 1.5 and 2 inches are still expected, including in Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Hot Springs.

The highest totals are expected farther west and northwest, where cities like Fayetteville, Fort Smith, and Harrison could see between 2 and 4 inches of rain. This raises the risk for localized flooding, especially along smaller creeks, low-lying roads, and flood-prone areas. Drivers along I-49 and I-40 should prepare for reduced visibility and ponding during heavier downpours.

Storm timing remains somewhat uncertain, but the most active window currently centers on Wednesday through Thursday night, with additional rain possible into the weekend. Residents should clear drainage areas, avoid flooded roadways, and monitor updates as rainfall totals may shift.

More advisories are likely as confidence increases in exact storm timing and rainfall placement across the state.
