Ann Arbor, MI – The Ann Arbor Police Department says it has identified the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian last month, and the case has now been submitted to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
According to Ann Arbor police, the investigation stems from a crash that occurred on June 16, 2026, at approximately 12:45 p.m. near the intersection of East Huron Street and North Thayer Street.
Investigators said a 22-year-old man was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a white Chevrolet Traverse. The pedestrian suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police alleged that the driver did not stop after the collision and fled the scene. Investigators previously said the Chevrolet Traverse was displaying a temporary license plate and was believed to have sustained front-end damage during the crash.
Following weeks of investigative work, the Ann Arbor Police Department announced Thursday that the driver involved has been identified. Officials did not release the driver’s name or indicate whether criminal charges have been filed.
According to police, the investigation has now been forwarded to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office, which will review the evidence and determine whether charges are appropriate.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding how the driver was identified, citing the ongoing prosecutorial review.
The Ann Arbor Police Department said further information may become available as the legal process moves forward. Until formal charges are filed, no criminal allegations have been adjudicated, and any charging decisions remain with the prosecutor’s office.
