Cleveland, OH – Much of northern Ohio is expected to experience dangerous heat Wednesday as temperatures climb into the 90s and humidity pushes heat index values into the triple digits, prompting a Heat Advisory across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a Heat Advisory is in effect from noon until 8 p.m. EDT Wednesday for much of northern Ohio. Afternoon temperatures are forecast to reach the lower to mid-90s, while humidity will make it feel as hot as 105 degrees.
The advisory includes communities across much of the region, including Cleveland, Toledo, Akron, Mansfield, Findlay, Marion, Sandusky, Canton, Youngstown, and surrounding areas.
Forecasters warn that the combination of heat and humidity will significantly increase the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, particularly for older adults, young children, outdoor workers, and those without access to air conditioning.
The National Weather Service recommends limiting strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, drinking plenty of water, wearing lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, and taking frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned locations. Residents are also encouraged to check on neighbors, family members, and pets during the advisory.
Officials also remind drivers to never leave children or pets unattended inside parked vehicles, where temperatures can quickly become life-threatening.
The hot weather is expected to peak Wednesday afternoon before gradually easing later in the evening. Residents should continue monitoring the latest forecasts and any additional heat-related advisories issued by the National Weather Service.
