Tampa, Florida – Drivers across the Tampa Bay region should plan for slick roads and reduced visibility during the evening commute as daily showers and thunderstorms ramp up with temperatures pushing into the upper 80s through the end of the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, highs will climb from the mid-80s Tuesday to near 88°F by Friday, running above normal and approaching record territory. Rain chances increase each afternoon and evening, with probabilities ranging from 40% to 60%, especially along the I-275, I-4, and US-41 corridors.

Tampa, Sarasota-Bradenton, and Lakeland will see the steadiest pattern of late-day storms, while inland areas like Brooksville and Sebring could experience brief downpours that reduce visibility below a mile. Fort Myers and Punta Gorda face similar conditions, with isolated lightning and ponding on roadways possible during peak travel hours.

Despite the rain chances, drought conditions remain in place across much of West Central and Southwest Florida. Residents should avoid relying on these scattered storms for meaningful relief and continue water conservation efforts.

Charge devices ahead of storms, avoid flooded roadways, and expect brief delays during the evening commute. This pattern holds through Friday, with additional advisories possible if storm coverage increases.
