Corpus Christi, Texas – Dry air and gusty winds are combining with near 100°F heat to rapidly increase fire danger across South Texas this afternoon, especially across inland counties where vegetation can ignite quickly.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, southeasterly winds will sustain between 15 and 25 mph with higher gusts through the late afternoon hours, while relative humidity drops as low as 25% to 30%. This combination is driving elevated fire weather conditions across Duval, McMullen, La Salle, and Webb counties through Wednesday evening.

High temperatures will climb from the mid-90s Tuesday into the upper 90s by Wednesday, with Cotulla, Tilden, and Freer among the hottest spots. Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend will remain slightly cooler, topping out near 95°F, but breezy conditions could still impact travel along I-37 and US-181, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Rain chances remain limited, with only a 20% chance Tuesday and up to 30% by Thursday and Saturday. Any storms that develop will be brief and widely scattered, offering little relief from ongoing dry conditions.

Avoid outdoor burning, secure trailer chains, and delay activities that could create sparks. Fire خطر remains elevated through midweek, with additional advisories possible if winds strengthen.
