Jackson, KY – Eastern Kentucky will enjoy several days of warm, mostly dry weather before a cold front brings increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms heading into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, high pressure will keep conditions largely rain-free through Thursday. Morning river valley fog will be possible each day before giving way to mostly sunny skies and steadily warming afternoon temperatures.

Tuesday’s highs are expected to range from 85 to 89 degrees with overnight lows between 63 and 68 degrees. Temperatures climb into the upper 80s and lower 90s Wednesday and Thursday, with highs reaching 88 to 93 degrees and only a slight chance of an isolated afternoon thunderstorm Thursday.

The weather pattern changes Friday as an approaching cold front moves toward the region. Rain chances increase to 40% to 50% Friday, with scattered showers and thunderstorms becoming more widespread.

The wettest period of the forecast arrives Saturday, when thunderstorms are likely and rain chances climb to 50% to 70%. High temperatures will ease slightly into the mid-80s to lower 90s, while overnight lows remain in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

Residents with outdoor plans later this week should monitor the forecast, especially Friday through the weekend, when thunderstorms could bring periods of heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds. Until then, the primary weather concern will be patchy morning fog in river valleys and warming afternoon temperatures.
