Addison, IL: Fire Commissioner Jean Gugliuzza Dies, District Announces

Addison, IL – The Addison Fire Protection District is mourning the loss of Fire Commissioner Jean Gugliuzza, a longtime public servant whose career with the district spanned nearly three decades.

According to the Addison Fire Protection District, Gugliuzza died on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, surrounded by her family. The district announced her passing Monday, remembering her dedication to both the department and the Addison community.

Gugliuzza began her career with the district in 1996 as its Administrative Assistant and retired from that role in 2019. In 2023, she returned to continue serving the community after being appointed to the Board of Fire Commissioners, where she remained an active member until her passing.

In a statement, the district said Gugliuzza “loved the District” and described her as a longtime Addison resident whose commitment to public service left a lasting impact on firefighters, staff, and the community she served.

Memorial services are scheduled for Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake Street, Addison, Illinois. A Fire Department walk-through is planned for 3:30 p.m. at the same location.

Fire Chief Brock Herion expressed condolences on behalf of the district, honoring Gugliuzza’s years of service and contributions to the organization.

The Addison Fire Protection District said Commissioner Gugliuzza will be greatly missed by her colleagues, friends, and the community she faithfully served throughout her career.
