Indianapolis, Indiana – A warm start to the week will quickly shift to a prolonged stretch of rain and storms that could impact travel and lead to localized flooding across central Indiana.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, temperatures will climb into the low 80s by Tuesday before rain chances increase sharply late Monday and peak Tuesday into midweek. Storm chances rise to 60–80% Tuesday through Thursday, bringing repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms.

Cities including Indianapolis, Bloomington, Lafayette, and Muncie could see steady rainfall at times, with total accumulations reaching 2 to 3 inches through the weekend. Gusty winds up to 40 mph are also possible, especially during stronger storms Tuesday.

Major corridors such as I-65, I-70, and I-69 may see reduced visibility and water buildup during heavier downpours, particularly during peak commute hours midweek.

The pattern remains active through Sunday, with daily chances for showers and storms continuing even as temperatures settle back into the 60s and 70s.

Residents should prepare for multiple days of wet conditions, avoid driving through flooded roadways, and monitor updates as additional advisories may be issued later this week.
