Linn Grove, Indiana – Floodwaters are already spilling into low-lying farmland near Linn Grove, with the Wabash River holding above flood stage and threatening rural roads and agricultural areas through Monday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, the river reached 11.2 feet as of 9:45 a.m. Sunday, just above the 11.0-foot flood stage. The river is expected to hold near that crest through the afternoon before gradually falling below flood stage later tonight, though impacts will linger into Monday.
Flooding is primarily affecting agricultural land east of Geneva in Adams and Wells counties, where standing water is beginning to cover fields and low-access routes. Some rural roads near the river may become impassable, especially during peak water levels this afternoon.
Emergency officials warn drivers not to attempt crossing flooded roadways. Even shallow water can stall vehicles or sweep them away. Residents in flood-prone areas should monitor conditions closely and move equipment or livestock to higher ground if necessary.
Water levels are expected to recede late tonight, but officials caution that additional advisories could be issued if conditions change.
