Oregon – Cool morning air won’t last long across the southern Willamette Valley. Bright sunshine will quickly warm neighborhoods, parks, and roadways as temperatures surge toward the upper 80s, delivering another classic midsummer afternoon across western Oregon.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s high will reach 89 degrees under sunny skies, followed by 90 degrees Tuesday and another warm day near 88 degrees Wednesday. Winds remain light, becoming northwesterly around 8 mph during the afternoon. A slight 20% chance of rain arrives late Wednesday night before cooler air settles in Thursday.

Dry weather and abundant sunshine will make for excellent outdoor conditions, but afternoon heat can still become a concern during prolonged exposure. Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and schedule strenuous activities for the cooler morning hours whenever possible.

Drivers along Interstate 5, Beltline Highway, and OR-126 should expect excellent travel conditions with dry pavement and unlimited visibility. Construction zones may become noticeably hotter during the afternoon as pavement temperatures climb well above the air temperature.

Wednesday marks the beginning of a gradual transition. While highs remain in the upper 80s, increasing moisture may produce a brief shower late Wednesday night before Thursday cools into the lower 80s under mostly sunny skies. No severe weather is expected, and thunderstorm potential remains very low.

Nationally, the weather pattern remains active across the Plains and Midwest with severe thunderstorms and flash flooding, while much of the Pacific Northwest experiences stable high pressure and warm summer weather.
