Glasgow, MT – Drivers across northeast Montana could face muddy, hard-to-pass roads by early Monday as rain moves in overnight, especially along the Hi-Line where the heaviest precipitation is expected.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, rain will develop Sunday night and continue through Monday, with a 50% to 80% chance of at least 0.10 inches across much of the region. The highest probabilities stretch from Malta to Plentywood, including Glasgow, Wolf Point, and Scobey.

Localized impacts are likely where steadier rain falls. Rural and unpaved roads may turn into thick “gumbo,” creating hazardous travel conditions for early Monday commutes. Officials urge drivers to avoid backroads where possible and check local conditions before heading out.

Colder pockets near the Canadian border, including Opheim and Plentywood, could see isolated snow mixing in by early Monday morning. While accumulation is expected to stay light, slick spots may develop briefly.

Conditions should gradually improve later Monday as showers taper, but additional updates may be issued if rainfall coverage increases overnight.
