Billings, MT – A sharp weather shift is set to hit Montana within hours, with warm and dry conditions today quickly giving way to rain, snow, and falling temperatures by Monday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Billings, highs will reach the upper 60s to low 70s today across south central Montana, including Billings and Roundup. A cold front arriving Monday will bring gusty winds and a rapid cooldown, with temperatures dropping into the 40s by evening.

Rain will develop ahead of and along the front, transitioning to snow in some areas Monday night, especially near foothills and higher elevations. Roads along I-90, U.S. 87, and surrounding routes could become slick as temperatures fall and precipitation changes over.

Drivers should prepare for reduced visibility, wet-to-icy road conditions, and gusty winds that may impact high-profile vehicles. Areas near Red Lodge and Livingston could see more significant impacts with snow accumulation possible.

Conditions briefly dry out Tuesday and Wednesday before another stronger system arrives late week, bringing additional rain, snow, and wind. More advisories are likely as this active pattern continues.
