Morehead City, NC – A quick rebound from a chilly start is underway across eastern North Carolina this morning, with temperatures climbing into the mid-60s today and surging toward 80 degrees by Tuesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City, abundant sunshine and a developing southerly flow will drive the warming trend, with highs reaching around 66 degrees today after early frost in some inland areas. That warming accelerates Monday with highs near 74 degrees, followed by widespread lower 80s by Tuesday and Wednesday.

Communities along the Crystal Coast, including Morehead City, New Bern, and Jacksonville, will see dry and sunny conditions dominate through Tuesday. Roads like U.S. 70 and NC-24 will remain clear, with no major travel impacts expected during the warm stretch.

Residents should take advantage of the dry weather but remain mindful of increasing warmth, especially during afternoon hours. Light breezes will continue, helping moderate conditions near the coast.

A slight chance of rain returns by Wednesday as the pattern shifts, but dry weather holds through early week. Additional updates may follow as midweek rain chances develop.
