Indianapolis, Ind. – A classic midsummer weather pattern is settling across Indiana this week, bringing several days of dry skies and steadily rising temperatures before the next opportunity for rain arrives this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, highs will climb from the upper 80s Monday into the lower 90s by Wednesday, with dry conditions expected through at least Friday. The next meaningful chance for showers and thunderstorms is not expected until Saturday.

Indianapolis is forecast to reach 87 degrees Monday, 89 degrees Tuesday, and 92 degrees Wednesday before easing slightly to around 91 degrees Thursday. Overnight lows will remain warm, generally in the upper 60s to lower 70s, offering limited relief from the daytime heat.

The dry pattern will benefit construction projects, road work and outdoor events across central Indiana, but several consecutive warm days will increase the risk of heat-related illnesses for anyone spending extended time outdoors. Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, take breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the afternoon.

With little rainfall expected through the workweek, lawns and gardens may dry out quickly, and fire officials encourage residents to use caution with outdoor burning where permitted.
