Dallas, Texas – North Texas is set to transition from a stormy start to the week to a hotter, drier pattern, with rain chances fading after Wednesday and afternoon temperatures climbing back into the mid to upper 90s by the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, scattered showers and thunderstorms early in the week will keep temperatures slightly below normal before a warming trend takes hold. Rain chances diminish significantly after Wednesday as drier air moves into the region, allowing sunshine and rising temperatures to dominate through the end of the week.
The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is expected to reach 91 degrees Wednesday with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, followed by 93 degrees Thursday under mostly sunny skies. Temperatures then climb to 95 degrees Friday and 97 degrees Saturday as rain-free conditions return.
Elsewhere, Sherman and Denison will warm from 89 degrees Wednesday to 96 degrees Saturday, while Waco, Temple and Killeen rise from 88 degrees Wednesday to 93 degrees Saturday. Palestine follows a similar trend, reaching 93 degrees by Friday and Saturday after isolated midweek storm chances.
Residents should continue monitoring the forecast through Wednesday for any lingering thunderstorms, but prepare for increasing heat heading into the weekend. As temperatures climb back into the 90s, staying hydrated and limiting strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the afternoon will become increasingly important.
