Fox Lake, WI – Four people safely escaped a boat that became fully engulfed in flames Sunday morning on Fox Lake, prompting a response from multiple emergency agencies in Dodge County.
According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was reported shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday, July 12, 2026, after numerous 911 callers reported a boat on fire in the Town of Fox Lake. The occupants were able to jump from the vessel and were picked up by nearby boaters before emergency crews arrived.
Firefighters from the Fox Lake Fire Department towed the burning boat to shore, where crews extinguished the fire. A tow company later removed the damaged vessel from the lake.
Authorities said there were no injuries to any of the four occupants. The boat had been purchased the previous day and was being operated legally by a juvenile-aged male. Three juvenile passengers were also aboard, including the vessel’s owner.
According to the sheriff’s office, there is no indication that the occupants’ actions or inactions caused the fire. Officials said an onboard fire extinguisher was used in an attempt to put out the flames, but the effort was unsuccessful.
The Fox Lake Police Department, Fox Lake EMS, and Randolph EMS also responded to assist at the scene.
The cause of the fire has not been announced, and the incident remains under investigation. Officials have not released additional information about the boat or what may have sparked the blaze.
