Palos Hills, IL – The Palos Hills Police Department issued 64 traffic citations and made three traffic arrests during its Fourth of July holiday traffic enforcement campaign, officials announced.
According to the Palos Hills Police Department, officers participated in the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns over the Independence Day holiday.
During the enforcement period, officers issued a total of 64 citations, including:
- 29 distracted driving citations
- 12 occupant protection (seat belt) citations
- 12 speeding citations
Police also made three traffic arrests for misdemeanor traffic offenses during the campaign.
The department joined more than 200 state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois in the high-visibility enforcement initiative aimed at reducing impaired driving, increasing seat belt use, and improving overall roadway safety during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.
Officials said the campaign combined increased patrols with public outreach efforts to encourage safe driving behaviors.
The Illinois Independence Day enforcement campaign is funded through federal highway safety dollars administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and supported by the Illinois State Police and local law enforcement agencies statewide. It also reinforces IDOT’s “It’s Not a Game” traffic safety campaign, which highlights the real-world consequences of fatal crashes.
The Palos Hills Police Department encourages motorists to wear seat belts, avoid distractions behind the wheel, obey posted speed limits, and never drive impaired.
