Frenchtown Township, MI – An early morning burglary at a Monroe County powersports dealership led deputies to recover multiple off-road vehicles and a stolen vehicle, while investigators continue searching for additional suspects.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 4:14 a.m. Monday, July 6, to an alarm activation at River Raisin Powersports, located at 1065 N. Telegraph Road in Frenchtown Township.

While deputies were en route, a nearby resident reported seeing a vehicle drop off four to five people before hearing ATVs and dirt bikes being operated on nearby roadways.

Deputy Jacob Llewellyn located a side-by-side UTV traveling eastbound across Telegraph Road with a dirt bike loaded in its rear cargo area. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the UTV fled into a nearby neighborhood before entering a residential front yard, where two unidentified suspects fled on foot.

A K-9 unit and the Sheriff’s Office drone were deployed, but the search did not locate the fleeing suspects.

During a neighborhood search, Sgt. Joshua Motylinski located an occupied vehicle parked in the driveway of a private residence on Huber Drive. Two men in their 20s from Toledo, Ohio, were detained for further investigation.

Investigators later determined the vehicle occupied by the two men had been stolen from Toledo, although the theft had not yet been reported at the time deputies recovered it.

Authorities recovered two dirt bikes and one side-by-side UTV in the area.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to identify additional suspects and gather evidence. Once completed, the case will be forwarded to the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office for possible criminal charges.
