Cleveland, Ohio – 75°F temperatures are surging into northern Ohio by Tuesday afternoon, before rain and thunderstorms arrive Tuesday night and threaten travel across the region. The rapid warmup from a chilly start will set the stage for an active midweek pattern with changing conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, one more cool day will hold Saturday with highs in the low to mid-40s before a steady warming trend begins Sunday. Temperatures will climb into the upper 50s Sunday, reach the 60s Monday, and peak in the low to mid-70s by Tuesday ahead of an approaching cold front.
Cities including Cleveland, Akron, Toledo, and Mansfield will experience the sharp temperature swing, with overnight lows rising from the upper 20s and 30s this weekend into the 50s by early next week. This warming trend will increase instability ahead of a system expected to bring widespread rain and possible thunderstorms Tuesday night into early Wednesday.
The greatest impacts are expected along Interstate 90, Interstate 71, and Interstate 75, where rain and storms could create slick roads and reduced visibility during peak evening and overnight travel. Some thunderstorms may produce brief heavy downpours.
After the front passes, cooler air returns Wednesday with highs dropping back into the 40s and 50s. Additional rain chances are expected later in the week as a more active pattern continues.
