Missouri wakes up under a quiet but damaging chill as patchy frost clings to lawns and rooftops across St. Louis, threatening early spring plants before the sun fully takes hold. Gardeners have a narrow window to act before temperatures rebound quickly.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, a Frost Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. with temperatures dipping between 32 and 36 degrees across St. Louis City and County . Sensitive plants may be damaged if left uncovered.

Skies turn sunny through the late morning, and temperatures recover into the upper 50s by afternoon. Roads along I-64 and I-44 remain dry, but shaded spots early could feel slick from residual moisture and cold surfaces. If you’re heading out early, give yourself a few extra minutes.

The bigger story is the rapid warm-up. By Sunday, St. Louis jumps into the low 70s with breezy south winds. Monday surges even higher, reaching the mid-80s with gusts near 25 mph. It will feel more like early summer than late March.

By Tuesday afternoon, moisture returns and instability builds. Rain chances rise to around 50 percent, with thunderstorms possible after 1 p.m. Conditions may deteriorate quickly during the evening commute, especially along I-55 and across the Mississippi River bridges.

Rain becomes more widespread Tuesday night, with chances nearing 90 percent. Showers linger into midweek before cooler air settles back in.

Looking ahead, this pattern signals a full transition into spring, with warmer-than-normal temperatures continuing into early April.
