New York, NY – Roads across New York City and Long Island could turn slick before sunrise Saturday as scattered snow showers move in overnight, with even a light coating enough to impact bridges and elevated roadways.

According to the National Weather Service in New York, isolated to scattered snow showers will develop after 8 p.m. Friday and continue through about 8 a.m. Saturday, with precipitation chances ranging from 18% in New York City to near 30% across Long Island and southern Connecticut. Most areas are expected to see a dusting to under 1 inch of accumulation.

The highest risk for minor travel issues stretches from Brooklyn and Queens through Nassau and Suffolk counties, where colder surfaces could allow snow to briefly stick. Elevated roadways including the Long Island Expressway, Northern State Parkway, and I-495 ramps may become slick during the early morning hours.

Southern Connecticut cities including New Haven, Bridgeport, and New London could also see light coatings, especially on untreated roads. Farther inland, including areas north of White Plains and into the Hudson Valley, precipitation chances drop closer to 10–15%, limiting impacts.

Drivers heading out before 9 a.m. Saturday should reduce speeds and watch for icy patches, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Even minor accumulation can create hazardous spots.

Conditions improve quickly after sunrise, but additional updates may follow if snow coverage becomes more widespread overnight.
