Albany, New York – The quiet stretch of weather across eastern New York will come to an end Wednesday as showers and thunderstorms return to the forecast ahead of a more unsettled and windy pattern later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, Monday and Tuesday will remain largely dry with comfortable temperatures and humidity levels across much of the Capital Region, Hudson Valley, Mohawk Valley and southern Adirondacks. Highs will generally reach the upper 70s to around 80 degrees Tuesday under partly sunny skies.

The next weather-maker arrives Wednesday, when showers and scattered thunderstorms become possible across eastern New York and western New England. Cities including Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls and Poughkeepsie could see periods of rain and occasional thunder during the day.

The more widespread impact period appears likely Thursday as another round of showers and thunderstorms develops alongside increasing winds. Travelers along Interstate 87, Interstate 90 and the Taconic State Parkway should prepare for wet roads and changing conditions during both the morning and evening commutes.

Thursday temperatures could climb into the low to upper 80s ahead of approaching rain and thunderstorms. While widespread severe weather is not currently forecast, gusty winds and locally heavy downpours may accompany stronger storms.

Residents with outdoor plans later this week should monitor forecast updates and have indoor alternatives available. Additional showers may linger into Friday before conditions gradually improve.
