Kankakee, IL – The season of giving shone brightly in Kankakee, as local charities celebrated remarkable achievements in their holiday campaigns. The Marine Toys for Tots and The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign both reported extraordinary successes, bringing joy and support to many during the festive season.

Marine Toys for Tots Campaign in Kankakee revealed that, aided by grants from area Walmarts, they had provided over 5,000 toys to children for Christmas 2023. The campaign’s coordinator lauded the incredible community support that made this possible, reflecting the spirit of giving that pervades Kankakee during the holidays.

Adding to the festive cheer, Lieutenant La Toya Surratt of The Salvation Army Kankakee shared that one of their Red Kettles, manned by Milner Media’s Denny Case at Blain’s Farm & Fleet, collected over $1,100 on December 23rd alone.

While the physical campaign has ended, their fundraising efforts continue with a Virtual Red Kettle, open for donations until January 31st, 2024. The Salvation Army is still striving to meet its ambitious $75,000 goal and encourages community members to contribute digitally to this cause.
