Wakefield, Virginia – Comfortable summer weather is settling across much of Virginia to start the workweek, offering residents several days of dry conditions before temperatures begin climbing again by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, near-average temperatures will dominate Monday and Tuesday, with highs generally reaching the low to mid-80s across inland portions of eastern and central Virginia. Coastal communities along the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic shoreline will remain slightly cooler, with highs mainly in the 70s.

Cities including Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Newport News, Hampton, Richmond and Williamsburg can expect partly sunny skies and relatively pleasant humidity levels through Tuesday. Overnight temperatures will fall into the upper 50s and 60s, providing comfortable conditions for outdoor activities and travel.

A few showers may develop Wednesday morning as moisture briefly increases across the region. However, widespread rainfall is not expected, and most locations should remain dry for the majority of the day.

The bigger story will be the return of warmer temperatures. Highs are expected to reach around 90 degrees Wednesday afternoon across much of eastern Virginia and northeast North Carolina, marking the beginning of a warming trend heading into the latter half of the week.

Residents should take advantage of the mild conditions early in the week before summer heat strengthens. Additional forecast updates may be issued if rain chances or temperatures trend higher later this week.
