Oregon – A cold, still morning settles over the Rogue Valley, where frost clings to grass and rooftops before a rapid warm-up takes hold under clear skies.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures dipped into the upper 30s early, allowing areas of frost to form across Medford and surrounding communities. Calm winds and clear skies helped drive the chilly start, especially in lower elevations and rural valleys.
Sunshine quickly takes over today, pushing highs into the mid-70s by afternoon. Conditions remain calm, making for ideal travel and outdoor plans along I-5 and throughout Jackson County.
The warming trend continues into the weekend. Highs reach the low 70s Saturday and climb into the low to mid-70s again Sunday under mostly sunny skies. Mornings stay cool, so gardeners should continue protecting sensitive plants early in the day.
By Monday, clouds begin to increase, signaling a shift. A chance of rain develops by the afternoon, with more persistent showers possible into Monday night. Roads could turn slick during commutes after several dry days.
The pattern turns more active by midweek. Rain becomes more widespread Tuesday into Wednesday, and snow levels may drop to around 4,500 feet. Higher elevations in the Cascades could see accumulating snow, impacting travel through mountain passes.
