Duluth, Minnesota – Residents across northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin should prepare for several days of cooler weather and recurring rain chances, with the most widespread rainfall expected by Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, cooler-than-normal temperatures and periodic chances for showers and thunderstorms will continue through at least the first half of the week. A stronger system is expected to arrive Wednesday, bringing more widespread precipitation across much of the Northland.

Sunday night will remain relatively quiet with partly to mostly clear skies. Overnight temperatures are forecast to fall between 44 and 50 degrees across northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin.

Rain chances increase Monday as scattered showers and thunderstorms develop during the afternoon and evening. High temperatures are expected to range from 73 to 80 degrees across Duluth, Superior, Hibbing, International Falls and surrounding communities. While thunderstorms are possible, widespread severe weather is not currently anticipated.

Across Minnesota – Wisconsin, another round of showers and storms is expected Tuesday before gradually shifting eastward during the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will trend cooler, with highs ranging from 63 to 70 degrees and overnight lows falling into the 40s.

The wettest period of the week appears likely on Wednesday as widespread showers and embedded thunderstorms spread across much of the region. Forecast highs will remain cool for mid-June, generally between 62 and 69 degrees. Communities from Duluth and Cloquet to Hayward, Ashland and Superior could see periods of steady rainfall, reduced visibility and wet travel conditions.

Residents with outdoor plans should keep rain gear handy and monitor local forecasts for changing conditions. Campers, boaters and hikers may encounter periods of rain on multiple days, especially Wednesday when coverage is expected to be greatest.

The cooler, unsettled pattern is expected to persist through midweek, with additional forecast updates possible as confidence increases in Wednesday’s rainfall totals and thunderstorm coverage across the Northland.
