Corpus Christi, Texas – Summer-like heat is building across South Texas today, with inland temperatures pushing into the mid-90s before a weak cold front arrives overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, highs Friday will range from near 80 degrees along the coast to between 92 and 96 degrees inland, including Laredo, Cotulla, and Freer. Southeast winds between 10 and 20 mph will keep conditions breezy, especially near the coast.

The cold front is expected to move through late tonight into early Saturday morning, bringing a slight 20 percent chance of rain, mainly across southern portions of the region. Rainfall will be limited, but brief showers could impact early morning travel.

Saturday will bring a modest cooldown, with highs ranging from the mid-70s to low 80s near the coast and mid-70s to low 80s inland. Northerly winds will replace today’s onshore flow, creating a noticeably cooler feel.

The cooldown will not last long. By Sunday, temperatures rebound into the upper 70s to near 90, with a steady warming trend continuing into early next week. Highs are expected to climb back into the mid-90s by Monday and Tuesday across much of South Texas.
