Dallas, TX – A migrating heat dome is set to push temperatures into the mid to upper 80s across Texas within days, while periodic rounds of rain could impact travel and outdoor plans through early April.
According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, much of Texas falls within a 50 to 60 percent probability of above-normal temperatures from April 3 through April 9, paired with a 40 to 60 percent chance of above-normal precipitation, especially across central, eastern, and Gulf-facing regions. Highs in Dallas, Austin, and Houston are expected to run 10 to 15 degrees above seasonal averages, with several areas reaching into the upper 80s and low 90s.
Texas sits along the southwestern edge of the heat dome, where warm air interacts with Gulf moisture and passing disturbances. This setup supports periodic showers and thunderstorms, with higher rain coverage expected across eastern Texas and along the Gulf Coast.
Rain chances will be scattered to numerous at times, with occasional heavier downpours possible along major corridors including I-35, I-10, and I-45. Drivers may encounter reduced visibility and water-covered roads during heavier bursts.
Residents can expect warm, increasingly humid conditions with intervals of rain and quick weather changes.
This pattern is expected to persist through April 3–9, with additional updates likely as storm timing and rainfall coverage become more defined.
