Boston, MA – Strong winds and periods of rain are expected across Massachusetts on Saturday, May 30, with some coastal communities facing wind gusts strong enough to cause minor damage and travel disruptions.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, strong north to northeast winds will develop through the morning and early afternoon before gradually decreasing later Saturday evening. Wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph are expected across much of eastern Massachusetts, with the strongest conditions along the coast.

Forecasters say isolated gusts exceeding 55 mph are possible across Cape Cod and the Islands, where impacts could include downed tree limbs, scattered power outages and difficult travel conditions for high-profile vehicles.

Another round of rain is expected to move through the region during the day, adding to the raw and unseasonably cool conditions. Temperatures are forecast to remain well below normal, with most locations struggling to rise above the upper 40s and low 50s.

The strongest winds are expected from Boston northward through the North Shore, as well as along the South Shore, Cape Cod and Nantucket. Inland communities including Worcester and Springfield will also experience gusty conditions, though winds should generally be lower than those along the coast.

Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor furniture, trash containers and other loose objects that could become airborne in strong winds. Drivers should use caution, especially on exposed roadways and bridges.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve Saturday night as winds weaken and the storm system moves away from New England.
