Wisconsin Weather 6/1: Storm Chances Return Near Mississippi River

Rain and thunderstorm chances increase Sunday night and Monday west of the Mississippi River.

La Crosse, WI – Much of western Wisconsin, southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa can expect seasonable temperatures and mainly dry weather through the remainder of the weekend before rain and thunderstorm chances return early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, dry conditions are expected Saturday, May 30, with afternoon highs ranging from 75 to 82 degrees. Overnight temperatures are forecast to fall into the upper 40s and 50s under partly cloudy skies.

The pleasant weather pattern is expected to continue Sunday, May 31, with highs again reaching 78 to 82 degrees across much of the region. Forecasters say most communities will remain dry during the day, making for favorable conditions for outdoor activities.

Rain chances begin increasing Sunday evening, especially west of the Mississippi River, as the next weather system approaches the Upper Midwest. The National Weather Service places precipitation chances between 20% and 50% Sunday night into Monday.

Monday, June 1, is expected to bring the highest likelihood of showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures climbing into the 80 to 85 degree range. While widespread severe weather is not currently highlighted, residents should monitor forecast updates as timing and storm coverage become clearer.

By Tuesday, June 2, temperatures are forecast to remain warm, with highs reaching 82 to 86 degrees across portions of western Wisconsin and neighboring areas.

Communities including La Crosse, Onalaska, Sparta, Prairie du Chien, Winona, Rochester and Decorah can expect several more days of comfortable temperatures before unsettled weather briefly returns to start the new week.
