Portland, OR – A significant warming trend is expected across northwest Oregon and southwest Washington next week, with some communities forecast to reach the upper 80s and low 90s between Tuesday, June 2, and Wednesday, June 3.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, temperatures are expected to remain near seasonal averages through Sunday, June 1, before rapidly climbing early next week. Forecasters say confidence is high that a brief stretch of summerlike warmth will develop across much of the region.

Portland is forecast to reach 86 degrees on Tuesday and 91 degrees on Wednesday. Nearby Vancouver could climb to 90 degrees Wednesday, while Hillsboro is forecast to hit 89 degrees and Beaverton could reach 92 degrees.

Elsewhere in the Willamette Valley, Salem is expected to peak near 87 degrees Tuesday, while Eugene could reach 85 degrees. Interior communities such as Longview, Washington, may approach 88 degrees during the warmest part of the event.

The warming trend is expected to be relatively short-lived. Forecast highs are projected to fall back into the 70s by Thursday, June 4, and Friday, June 5, as a cooler Pacific weather pattern returns to the region.

While no widespread heat-related alerts have been issued, residents planning outdoor activities next week may want to prepare for significantly warmer conditions than those experienced during the final days of May.

The National Weather Service notes that temperatures can vary slightly as the forecast is refined over the coming days, but the overall trend toward a warm start to June remains increasingly likely.
