Coulee City, WA – Grant County authorities say a body discovered near Summer Falls earlier this month has been identified as a missing Moses Lake man whose death was ruled accidental.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, detectives began investigating after a body was discovered around 7 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at the top of Summer Falls, located about 10 miles southeast of Coulee City.

Investigators working alongside the Grant County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 39-year-old Anthony Mann of Moses Lake. Mann had reportedly last been seen Friday, May 15.

Authorities said Mann’s unoccupied van was discovered Monday, May 18, near Trail Lake and close to a major irrigation canal upstream from Summer Falls.

Following an autopsy, Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison ruled the cause of death as drowning and determined the manner of death to be accidental, according to an update released Monday.

Officials said there were no signs of foul play during the investigation.

Family members were notified following the identification, authorities said.

Summer Falls and the surrounding canal system are located in a remote area of central Washington known for rugged terrain and swift-moving water during irrigation season. Officials routinely caution visitors to remain alert around canals and waterways due to dangerous currents and steep embankments.

The investigation remains documented under Grant County Sheriff’s Office case number 26GS05468.
