Michigan – A biting wind cuts through Detroit this morning, making it feel closer to 21°F despite air temperatures hovering near freezing. Drivers along I-75 and I-94 are facing a gray, brisk start with steady gusts pushing vehicles and rattling loose debris.

According to the National Weather Service, north winds are gusting up to 29 mph, keeping wind chills well below the actual temperature early today . Skies remain mostly cloudy, with limited sunshine struggling to break through.

Even as temperatures climb into the upper 30s this afternoon, the wind keeps conditions feeling cold and raw. Side streets and shaded areas may still hold onto slick spots from earlier moisture. Stay alert, especially on bridges and ramps.

Tonight, temperatures drop sharply to around 27°F. Any remaining damp pavement could refreeze, creating patchy black ice by early Saturday morning. Plan extra time if heading out early.

Saturday brings some relief, with sunshine returning and highs reaching the mid-40s. Winds ease slightly, making it feel more comfortable. By Sunday, a noticeable warm-up begins, with highs climbing into the mid-50s under partly sunny skies.

The warming trend continues into Monday, when temperatures reach near 60°F across Detroit and surrounding communities. However, clouds increase late in the day, with a chance of rain developing by evening.

Looking ahead, milder air holds through much of next week, though periodic rain chances return.

If you’re out this morning, bundle up and watch for gusty winds on open roads.
