Oklahoma’s calm late-morning skies over Tulsa are hiding a more active weather pattern waiting just beyond Memorial Day. Early fog and damp air around Tulsa International Airport slowly lifted through midday, revealing warmer sunshine and rising humidity across northeastern Oklahoma.

According to the National Weather Service, Tulsa stays mostly dry through Memorial Day with temperatures climbing into the lower and middle 80s. Storm chances begin increasing Tuesday and continue through at least Thursday as Gulf moisture pushes north into Oklahoma.

The biggest concern arrives during the afternoon and evening hours midweek. Scattered thunderstorms may produce brief heavy rain, dangerous lightning, gusty winds, and isolated hail. While widespread severe weather is not expected right now, forecasters say a few stronger cells could develop as warmer air builds over the Southern Plains.

Drivers along Interstate 44, Highway 75, and the Creek Turnpike should watch for sudden downpours during the busiest commute periods beginning Tuesday afternoon. Wet pavement and reduced visibility may create quick slowdowns, especially during heavier showers Wednesday and Thursday.

Tulsa’s temperatures remain well above seasonal averages despite the unsettled pattern. Afternoon highs hold near 81 to 84 degrees through much of the week, adding an early taste of summer heat across Green Country.

Elsewhere across the Plains, the broader weather setup keeps the eastern half of the country stormy while warmer and drier air dominates much of the West. Oklahoma sits close to the dividing line, allowing storm chances to periodically redevelop through late week.

Long-range signals continue pointing toward warmer-than-normal temperatures heading into early June, with more summer-like conditions likely expanding across Oklahoma by next weekend.
