Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Residents across the Ohio Valley have a narrow window to act as rotating thunderstorms threaten to produce tornadoes and damaging winds before 11 p.m. Thursday, placing multiple states under heightened alert.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, Tornado Watch 75 remains in effect until 11 p.m. EDT for eastern Ohio, southwest Pennsylvania, and northern West Virginia. Counties including Allegheny, Washington, Westmoreland, Belmont, and Muskingum face the greatest risk, with storms capable of producing brief tornadoes, wind gusts over 60 mph, and isolated hail.
The Pittsburgh metro area, including I-376 and the Parkway West, could see sudden visibility drops and dangerous crosswinds during heavier cells. In eastern Ohio, communities such as Zanesville, Cambridge, and Steubenville may experience rapidly developing storms with rotation, increasing the chance of quick spin-ups. Farther south, Wheeling and Wellsburg in West Virginia remain in the path of unstable air capable of producing isolated tornado warnings with little lead time.
Residents should move indoors immediately, stay away from windows, and identify a lowest-level shelter space. Mobile homes and vehicles are especially vulnerable and should be avoided during warnings.
The watch remains active until 11 p.m., with additional warnings likely as storms continue tracking east through the region.
