Toledo, Ohio – A fast-moving line of severe thunderstorms is sweeping across northwest Ohio right now, bringing 60 mph wind gusts and hail large enough to damage vehicles through the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, multiple Severe Thunderstorm Warnings remain in effect until 8:00 to 8:15 p.m. for areas including Toledo, Findlay, Bowling Green, Fremont, and Tiffin, with storms racing east at speeds up to 70 mph. Radar shows hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter and wind strong enough to snap tree limbs and down power lines.

The most intense impacts are expected along and east of the I-75 corridor, including Lucas, Wood, Hancock, and Seneca counties. Drivers on I-75, U.S. 23, and nearby highways could encounter sudden drops in visibility and water-covered roads as torrential rain moves through.

Communities including Perrysburg, Sylvania, and Oregon may see repeated bursts of heavy rain, while localized flooding becomes possible in low-lying areas. Power outages could impact thousands if stronger wind cores move directly overhead.

Residents are urged to move indoors immediately, avoid travel during the strongest storms, and stay alert for rapidly changing conditions. A Tornado Watch remains in effect across much of northwest Ohio until 11 p.m., and additional warnings may be issued as this line continues east.
