Fort Worth, Texas – A rapid warmup will follow a brief cool-down this weekend, pushing North Texas back into summerlike heat and increasing fire danger by early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, temperatures will rebound quickly after Saturday’s cooler conditions, climbing into the mid-80s Sunday and reaching the upper 80s to low 90s by Monday through Wednesday. Dallas-Fort Worth is expected to hit 87 to 88 degrees early next week, while Waco and Killeen could reach 89 to 91 degrees.

The combination of warming temperatures, dry air, and breezy afternoons will elevate fire weather concerns, especially west of I-35, including areas near Graham, Cisco, and parts of western North Texas. Dry grasses and ongoing lack of rainfall will make it easier for fires to start and spread.

Cities along the I-35 corridor, including Dallas, Fort Worth, and Waco, will see a sharp shift from cooler weekend conditions to sustained warmth heading into the workweek.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and remain cautious with equipment that could spark fires.

The warm, dry pattern is expected to persist through midweek, with little chance for rainfall and continued elevated fire risk across the region.
