Reno, Nevada – A pair of storm systems could impact Nevada and the Sierra within days, bringing gusty winds, mountain snow, and travel concerns by early to midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, two separate systems are expected to move into the region, though timing and intensity remain uncertain. The first system, arriving by Monday night, is expected to track out of central California, bringing warmer conditions with higher snow levels and lighter precipitation.

A second, colder system is expected to follow by midweek, potentially lowering snow levels below 7,000 feet and increasing the chance for more widespread snowfall across the Sierra Nevada. This system could create travel impacts along key mountain passes, including I-80 near Donner Pass and U.S. 50 near Echo Summit.

Winds ahead of both systems may become gusty, impacting high-profile vehicles and creating difficult driving conditions across western Nevada valleys, including Reno and Carson City.

Residents and travelers should prepare for changing conditions and monitor updates as confidence in timing and snowfall totals improves.

The unsettled pattern is expected to continue through midweek, with additional advisories likely as details become clearer.
