Green Bay, Wisconsin – Memorial Day travelers across northeast Wisconsin could encounter patchy fog and lingering wet roads overnight before a major warmup brings some of the hottest temperatures of the year so far by Monday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, scattered showers with a 40% to 70% chance of rain are expected overnight into early Sunday, along with areas of patchy fog that may reduce visibility before sunrise. Forecasters say clouds will gradually decrease from west to east Sunday as drier air moves into the state.
Communities including Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh and Manitowoc are expected to warm into the middle 70s and lower 80s Sunday before temperatures surge even higher Memorial Day. Highs Monday are forecast between 78 and 88 degrees across northeast Wisconsin, potentially marking the warmest day of the year so far for some locations.
Travel along Interstate 41, U.S. 141 and Highway 29 could briefly become slick overnight, especially in areas where fog develops near rivers and low-lying terrain. By Sunday afternoon, improving weather should create favorable conditions for outdoor ceremonies, cookouts and holiday travel across much of the region.
Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated during Monday’s warmer temperatures and monitor for changing conditions early Sunday morning if traveling before sunrise. Additional updates could be issued if fog coverage becomes denser overnight.
