New York, New York – Rain will move into the Tri-State area overnight, setting up slick roads for the Friday morning commute before a sharp temperature drop brings near-freezing conditions by early Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in New York, rainfall totals between 0.17 and 0.35 inches are expected from late Thursday night through early Friday afternoon. The steadiest rain will impact New York City, Long Island, and southern Connecticut between midnight and 10 a.m., with lighter amounts farther east.

High temperatures Friday will reach the low 50s across much of the region, including NYC, Newark, and White Plains, before colder air pushes in by evening. By late Friday night into early Saturday morning, temperatures fall to around 30 to 32 degrees in the city and into the mid to upper 20s inland, including areas like Poughkeepsie and Danbury.

This quick drop could lead to patchy frost, especially in suburban and inland locations. Drivers should watch for damp roads early Friday, while residents are encouraged to protect sensitive plants ahead of the colder night.

Conditions dry out for the weekend, with chilly air lingering Saturday before a gradual warmup begins Sunday. Additional updates may follow as temperatures fluctuate into early next week.
