Pittsburgh, PA – Drivers across western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio could face flooded roads and downed power lines within hours as a fast-moving line of severe storms pushes through between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, storms may produce wind gusts over 60 to 75 mph, hail up to 2 inches, and isolated tornadoes as a cold front sweeps east. Rain intensifies after 10 p.m., with multiple rounds continuing until about 5 a.m., increasing the risk of flash flooding.

The highest severe threat targets eastern Ohio cities including New Philadelphia, Cambridge, and Zanesville, where an enhanced risk is in place. Pittsburgh, Wheeling, and surrounding communities remain under a slight risk, with storms expected to weaken slightly but still capable of damaging impacts. In northern West Virginia, including Morgantown and Fairmont, heavy rain may push creeks and streams above bankfull overnight.

Low-lying roads, especially near small streams and underpasses, could become impassable before sunrise. Emergency officials urge residents to charge devices, secure outdoor items, and avoid overnight travel during peak rainfall.

Water levels may stay elevated through Friday evening, even after storms exit. Additional advisories or flood warnings could be issued overnight as conditions evolve.
