Montgomery County, TN Man Charged After Courthouse Shooting Incident

Clarksville, TN – Authorities in Montgomery County announced the arrest of a suspect following a shooting incident outside the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officers responded earlier Wednesday to reports of shots fired outside the courthouse complex. Investigators immediately launched an investigation into the incident after securing the scene.

Officials identified the suspect as 28-year-old Dalton Eatherly. According to investigators, Eatherly was detained by criminal investigators following the shooting investigation and later charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.

Authorities said Eatherly was booked into the Montgomery County Jail, where he remains held pending arraignment. Bond information is expected to be determined during court proceedings.

The sheriff’s office has not yet released additional details regarding what allegedly led up to the shooting or whether anyone was injured during the incident.
