Burlington, VT – A prolonged stretch of wet weather is expected across northern Vermont through the end of the workweek before sunshine and milder temperatures return for the weekend and early next week.

According to the National Weather Service, showers will continue developing across the Burlington area Wednesday morning and become widespread through the afternoon and evening hours. Rain chances remain very high through Thursday night, with several rounds of steady rainfall expected across Chittenden County and surrounding communities.

Forecasters say Wednesday could bring around a quarter inch of rainfall in some locations, with additional precipitation expected Wednesday night and Thursday. High temperatures will remain cool through the rainy stretch, reaching near 57 degrees Wednesday and around 61 degrees Thursday.

Showers continue Thursday night into Friday morning before gradually tapering later Friday afternoon. Friday’s highs are forecast to climb near 65 degrees as partial sunshine begins returning to parts of northern Vermont.

The weekend forecast looks significantly better for outdoor plans across the Green Mountain State. Saturday is expected to turn mostly sunny with highs near 76 degrees, while Sunday remains mild with highs in the mid-70s under partly sunny skies.

The warming trend continues into early next week, with temperatures climbing into the upper 70s Monday and potentially reaching the mid-80s Tuesday alongside only isolated shower chances.
