Tucson, Arizona – Extreme heat is gripping southern Arizona right now, with temperatures already breaking records and more triple-digit highs expected again within the next 24 hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, more than 120 daily record highs have already been set across southeast Arizona since mid-March, with additional records likely through Friday. Tucson is expected to reach near 100 to 102°F both days, while surrounding areas like Ajo, Nogales, and Safford continue to see unusually high March temperatures.

The prolonged heat is impacting daily routines across Pima, Santa Cruz, and Cochise counties, where dry air and intense sun exposure are increasing dehydration risks. In Tucson metro, road surfaces and vehicles heat rapidly by midday, while outdoor workers face the highest risk between noon and 6 p.m.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Cooling centers may see increased demand as temperatures remain well above seasonal averages.

Relief is not immediate, and updated advisories could be issued if records continue to fall through Friday.
