Boston, MA – A soggy stretch of weather is expected across eastern Massachusetts through the end of the workweek before sunshine and warmer temperatures return for the weekend and early next week.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will remain mostly cloudy with only a slight chance of isolated showers during the morning and early afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach near 66 degrees, though wind gusts could approach 28 mph during the day.

The wettest weather arrives Thursday as widespread showers and possible thunderstorms move into the Boston metro area. Forecasters say rain chances increase sharply Thursday afternoon and evening, with periods of heavier rainfall possible during the evening commute. Rainfall totals between a quarter and half inch are possible in stronger storms.

Showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue Thursday night into Friday morning before gradually tapering later Friday afternoon. Cooler temperatures will dominate Friday, with highs struggling to climb above 56 degrees across much of eastern Massachusetts.

Conditions improve dramatically heading into the weekend. Saturday is forecast to be sunny with highs near 76 degrees, while Sunday climbs to around 81 degrees under mostly sunny skies.

The warming trend continues into early next week as dry weather remains in place across much of New England. Tuesday could reach the mid-80s in parts of the Boston area.
