Pittsburgh, PA – A wet and stormy stretch of weather is expected across western Pennsylvania through Thursday before a dramatic warmup pushes temperatures into the 90s by early next week.
According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are likely across the Pittsburgh area Wednesday, especially during the afternoon hours. Some storms could produce heavier downpours and gusty winds as southwest winds increase to nearly 28 mph during the day.
Forecasters say rain chances remain elevated Wednesday evening before gradually tapering overnight. Additional scattered showers are possible Thursday, mainly before the afternoon, with cooler temperatures holding highs near 58 degrees.
Conditions improve significantly Friday as sunshine returns and temperatures rebound into the lower 70s. The warming trend strengthens heading into the weekend, with highs expected to reach near 85 degrees Saturday under partly sunny skies.
Scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms could redevelop Saturday and Sunday due to increasing heat and humidity across the region. Sunday’s high is forecast to approach 88 degrees.
The hottest weather of the forecast period arrives Monday and Tuesday, when temperatures could climb into the lower-to-mid 90s across Allegheny County and surrounding communities.
Residents are encouraged to monitor changing weather conditions through midweek, especially during periods of heavier rain and thunderstorms.
