Dundalk, MD – A stranded dog was safely rescued from the roof of a two-story townhouse in Dundalk on Tuesday, May 12, after Baltimore County police and fire crews responded to an unusual call for help.

According to the Baltimore County Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Pine Street in Precinct 12 during the evening after reports of a dog trapped on a rooftop and unable to get down. Upon arrival, officers coordinated with a neighboring resident to gain access to the home.

Police said Officer A. Flores entered through a second-floor rear window and climbed onto the roof, where the dog had become stranded. After reaching the top, the officer was able to calmly approach and secure the animal.

Fire department crews then assisted in safely bringing both the officer and the dog down from the roof using specialized equipment.

Investigators believe the dog may have exited its home through an open upstairs window and was unable to return due to the steep pitch of the roof.

The dog is now in the care of Animal Services while officials work to identify and locate its owner.

Authorities remind residents to ensure windows and escape points are secured to prevent pets from wandering into dangerous situations.
