Jackson, Ky. – Scattered showers and isolated storms are expected across eastern Kentucky today ahead of an approaching cold front.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, today’s activity could bring periods of rain and thunderstorms, with afternoon highs ranging from 78 to 85 degrees. The unsettled weather continues into Friday as the cold front moves through, bringing additional showers and cooler temperatures between 56 and 74 degrees.
Storm coverage Friday is expected to be more concentrated north of the Mountain Parkway, though rainfall impacts are not expected to be severe at this time.
Behind the front, conditions shift sharply heading into the weekend. Saturday morning could bring areas of frost, followed by sunny skies and highs between 51 and 57 degrees. Sunday continues the warming trend with mostly sunny conditions and highs climbing into the mid-60s to around 70 degrees.
The calmer weather will be short-lived, as a more active pattern returns Monday through midweek, with additional chances for showers and storms and highs rebounding into the 70s and low 80s.
The changing conditions may affect students and commuters planning outdoor activities today and early Saturday morning during colder conditions.
