Marquette, MI – A fresh round of wintry weather is moving through Upper Michigan this morning, bringing snow, icy conditions, and reduced visibility across the region.

According to the US National Weather Service in Marquette, light snow is expected across the northern half of the Upper Peninsula, while a wintry mix — including possible light freezing rain — is developing across south-central areas. The combination could create slick roads and hazardous travel conditions during the morning hours.

Forecasters also note areas of fog early Thursday, which may further reduce visibility for drivers in some locations.

High temperatures today will range from the mid-20s to low 30s across the north, and into the upper 30s in southern portions of the UP. However, conditions will shift tonight as colder air moves in.

Light lake-effect snow showers are expected to develop позднее tonight near Lake Superior and continue into Friday, with overnight lows dropping into the single digits inland and teens elsewhere.

Drivers are urged to use caution during the morning commute, especially on untreated roads where light icing may occur.

Residents across Marquette County, Delta County, and the broader Upper Peninsula should stay alert for changing conditions throughout the day.
