Wheaton, IL – Drivers and commuters in downtown Wheaton are being alerted to temporary parking changes near the College Avenue Train Station as utility and road work is set to begin early next week.

According to the City of Wheaton Government, the changes will take effect starting at 5 a.m. Sunday, March 30, impacting parking along Crescent Street between Hill Avenue and President Street. Officials said several on-street daily fee parking spaces, along with one row of leased spaces in Lot 6, will be temporarily unavailable during construction.

City officials noted that the project will begin with utility work expected to last approximately one month, followed by roadway resurfacing. Through traffic is expected to continue throughout the duration of the project, though drivers are urged to use caution in the area due to construction activity and potential congestion.

To help offset the disruption, the city has identified alternative parking options for commuters. Additional leased parking will be available in Lot 8, while extra daily fee parking can be found in Lot 7 and along Crescent Street west of President Street.

The temporary adjustments are part of ongoing infrastructure improvements aimed at maintaining road quality and utility systems in the area. Officials emphasized that access to the train station will remain open during construction.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and remain alert for signage and workers in the area as the project gets underway.
